Should section "Veneration of Goldstein" mention Itamar Ben-Gvir?

[edit]

It's an accepted fact that the current minister of national security of Israel, Itamar Ben-Gvir, previously hung a portrait of Goldstein inside his house. It is in the 2nd paragraph of Ben-Gvir's own Wikipedia page. It seems to me a good example of veneration that is worth mentioning. BenwayPHD (talk) 06:28, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

50-70 casualties

[edit]

in the article it's mentioned that Palastinians "count people who died outside the mosque and people who died of their wounds." Excuse me? This is how we count casualties for all other killings, not some "silly thing Palastinians do" as the article is suggesting. The 50-70 casualty count must be mentioned in the article or this article must immediate be struck as being biased. 75.118.12.202 (talk) 10:49, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at WP:EDITXY for the best way to suggest changes. You don't need to include your review of the content. What matters is whether the content reflects the reliable source cited. Given that the source says the following, perhaps you could suggest a specific change that better reflects that source and any other sources you would like to bring.
  • "Locals estimate the final number of deaths at between 50 and 70 – and an estimated 250 were injured over the course of the day. After the initial attack inside the mosque, more Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army during protests outside the mosque, outside Hebron’s Ahli hospital, and even in the local cemetery as the dead were being buried."
In the meantime, I have changed it to - In an article commemorating the event's 20th anniversary, Al Jazeera reported that local Palestinians estimated the total number of deaths to be between 50 and 70, with an additional 250 people injured that day.

The quote from the source or some other paraphrase of it should be put in the intro since it is important information, otherwise this article should be struck as biased. There's no way of knowing how the current sources came to their numbers and they appear to be in part sourced from the Israeli military which is notorious for being unreliable and even outright lying. The death toll of that day is still in dispute so the article should not default to whatever the Israeli military says.
Furthermore, "In an article commemorating the event's 20th anniversary, Al Jazeera reported that..." should not be included in any text. This implies that Al Jazeera is making a controversial claim or a claim that is in dispute which is not true. Al Jazeera is widely regarded as one of the most reputable sources in the world, and claims from the New York Times, AP News, or even The Times of Israel are not preceded with "X source reported that..." in any other article. If this article treats Al Jazeera claims as controversial but not other sources, then that's a plain example of bias and POV pushing. 174.249.81.127 (talk) 05:06, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Video of the aftermath of the attack from news station

[edit]

I had recently come across a 18 minute video containing no audio but showing a walkthough of the aftermath inside the Hall of Isaac.

Among other things, It showed a display of Baruch Goldstein's weapons, which included what I believe to be a Beretta 92F, with one mag extracted. His Galil also laid there, with about seven magazines sorted in three piles. Two of them were taped together jungle style.

The cherry on top was the footage of dead Goldstein. He had green IDF pants with a light green belt, and what appears to be a black jacket with a white undershirt. The lighting was too dark to see his face, but his face appeared to be bloodied beyond recognition.

Here is the video in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWJSQ6sGTVI MKUltralover 33 (talk) 01:20, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates not displaying in the infobox

[edit]

Greetings and felicitations. The coordinates are still not displaying in the infobox in either mobile or desktop modes for any of my three browsers (Firefox and Safari desktop (I also checked them in mobile mode), and mobile Safari (also checked in desktop)). I'm not sure what else to check or change. —DocWatson42 (talk) 19:44, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Claim that Goldstein was "widely denounced" in Israel

[edit]

This can't be true when further down in the article it says that 10% of Israelis view him as a hero, almost half refused to condemn him, and that settlers in the West Bank supported him. It's very well known that Itamar Ben-Gvir has a picture of Goldstein hung in his own home. Being a high ranking member of the government, this contradicts the claim that Israeli society condemns Goldstein. The claim that he was widely denounced in Israel should be deleted and replaced with the more accurate assessment that the reaction to the massacre among Israelis was a mix of support and denouncement. 174.249.81.127 (talk) 04:11, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You are mostly correct, but can you provide a reliable published source for this information? Zerotalk 04:30, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The same source as the one in the article: https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-733523. Source for the one about Ben-Gvir: https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-05-02/ty-article/.premium/video-shows-ben-gvir-giving-speech-with-words-praising-extremist-meir-kahane-in-background/00000187-dd31-dea8-af97-dfb1cbaf000
This seems to me like non-controversial information. I'm not sure what claims you want me to provide for this 174.249.81.127 (talk) 05:26, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
